This two‑day UCLH masterclass equips experienced haematology nurses (Band 6+) with the skills and insight needed to progress into CNS or ANP roles. Delegates will deepen their understanding of patient pathways, advanced nursing practice, and service development, gaining confidence to lead clinics, support patients, and navigate complex clinical challenges in haematology care.

Two‑Day UCLH Masterclass

This two‑day masterclass supports experienced haematology nurses (Band 6+) who are aspiring to progress into Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) roles. As haematology services expand and nurses take on increasing responsibility for diagnostics, treatment planning, patient support, and service innovation, this course provides the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to step confidently into advanced practice.

Across both days, attendees will explore the full patient pathway from diagnosis through relapse, learning how advanced nursing roles can influence outcomes through nurse‑led clinics, prescribing, service development, and enhanced communication. The programme also addresses psychological, ethical, and systemic challenges in haematology care, including health inequalities, workforce pressures, and the role of charitable partnerships in service growth.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the masterclass, participants will be able to:

Understand diagnostic approaches and treatment pathways for key haematological conditions.

Set up and manage nurse‑led services, including bone marrow procedures and clinics.

Apply advanced skills in prescribing, patient assessment, and emergency/elective care.

Communicate effectively during complex or emotionally challenging conversations.

Recognise opportunities for workforce and service expansion through partnerships and innovation.

Audience: Band 6+ nurses with ≥12 months’ haematology experience
